White Pines with AHSC

Time for this weeks sketch challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

Michelle has created a cute layered sketch with lots of room for interpretation.

I decided to pull out some retired paper and embellishments from my stash, and get to creating.

For my card I used the White Pines paper and complements.  I am in love with the whimsical tree and berries paper.  The red is the reverse side of this paper.  I layered my patterned paper onto cashmere cardstock.

A few red enamel gems and clear sparkles completed my card.

So, pull out your retired paper, complements and embellishments - - mix and match and get your create on.

I hope you'll join us at AHSC and add your project simply by following this link  http://atlanticheartschallenge.blogspot.ca

Enjoy,

ABC with Heart 2 Heart

The challenge for this week at Heart 2 Heart Challenges is ABC - - that's "Anything but a Card".

I have been working with the Oh Deer! collection with one of my monthly groups, and wanted to share with you the layout.

The group wanted a winter layout, but not necessarily Christmas themed, so Oh Deer! was perfect.  I kept the colours very neutral complementing the Desert Sand and Whisper colours in the patterned paper.    The sentiment and snowflakes are from the Flower Market cricut cartridge.  I can't get enough of the beautiful images available on this cartridge!!!

Woodland Wishes thin cuts and coordinating my acrylix stamps are so much fun.  The trees are stamped in fern and desert sand and popped up with foam tape.

Mr. Reindeer is also stamped in desert sand and a red gem highlights his nose.  He just might be the all important reindeer!!

Why do you scrapbook?

Why do you scrapbook?

For me, it's knowing the story behind the photo.  Who is that, what were they doing, why are they looking to the side?  I've recently been looking through some old photographs of my mother-in-law.  She immigrated to Canada following WWII, travelling from Holland by boat - no transatlantic flights then.

When I'm looking at the photos I'm able to marvel at the images and see history, but I don't know the history - thank goodness I can ask her and chat with her about the pictures.

This is a picture of my father-in-law sitting at a desk writing a letter - that's what I can see from the picture.  What's the rest of the story?

My mother-in-law, Johanna, and my father-in-law Theodorus wrote to each other while he was in Canada and she in Holland.   I would love to see those letters!!!  He is writing to his future wife to tell her about his new life in Canada.

It's important to share your story - print your photos - preserve them!!!  Otherwise, it's just a black and white photo of a man sitting at a desk writing a letter.

Enjoy,

Jennifer

Oh Deer with AHSC

It's a fabulous sketch this week at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge, and can be interpreted in so many ways.

Let's see what you can create with Michelle's sketch!!!

Link up at http://atlanticheartschallenge.blogspot.ca - I'd love to see your project.

I am in love with the Oh Deer paper package from CTMH and have been using up every piece!!!

In this card, I again paired with Woodland Wishes stamp set.

The scene, stars, and sentiment are all embossed in gold.  I popped up the circle image on a gold glitter paper scallop circle.

The patterned paper is backed with seaglass cardstock on a colonial white card base.

Enjoy,

Jennifer

Christmas Cards with H2H

We have a great challenge for you this week at Heart 2 Heart Challenges.  Create a Christmas card or layout with non-traditional colours - no red & green!!!  For my project I decided to use the Oh Deer paper package and create a twist and pop card.

This is a fun card that looks complicated but it's all about the score folds and adhesive.

I used the cute Woodland Wishes stamp set and coordinating thin cuts for the sentiment, snowflakes and cute deer.

Flipping the card open NOEL is cut with Flower Market cricut cartridge in gold glitter paper.

I couldn't resist another little deer on the inside.

I wanted to try to capture how the card flips when it opens - it is quite a thick card and may involve additional postage but will fit in a standard A2 envelope.

As you open up the card, the sentiment pops up and twists out with the flip to reveal your sentiment.

I also used a red gem and white/gold twine to add a bow to the cute deer.

Give a twist and pop card a try, and join us with your project at http://heart2heartchallenges.blogspot.ca simply by following the link.

Enjoy,

Jennifer
